My hand tool is an electro-acoustic rattle, inspired by the sekhem (or sistrum) used in ancient Egypt and modern West Africa, and by the bone rattles used by Indigenous medicine workers around the world.
The sekhem functions as a means of creating a sonic field for supporting heightened and transcendent states, and as a way of communicating and interacting with ancestral energies.
I am interested in experimenting with it as a tool for healing through sound frequencies, specifically exploring the use of binaural beat patterns for treating mental health, insomnia and other psychosomatic challenges.
